Job Description:

The Sales & Use Tax Analyst is a critical member of the Corporate Accounting team, responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The role requires the management of sales and use tax filings, property tax compliance, and other tax-related responsibilities across various subsidiaries and business units. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with third-party consultants to review and file federal and state income tax returns, including calculating estimated tax payments.
• Assist in the preparation of annual and quarterly federal and state income tax payment calculations.
• Analyze the tax impact of activities across multiple business locations and support tax compliance projects, including adapting to new tax legislation.
• Oversee property tax compliance by gathering and reporting necessary data to ensure accurate filings.
• Manage state tax nexus implications related to payroll and service work using third-party software tools.
• Ensure timely and accurate sales and use tax filings, including maintaining exemption certificates in the system.
• Provide guidance to internal teams on sales and use tax matters and respond to tax authority inquiries.
• Research and interpret tax laws and regulations to support decision-making and compliance efforts.
• Coordinate annual state registration filings and other required tax filings, such as franchise, business, and gross receipts taxes.
• Partner with external providers to ensure payroll tax compliance and address any tax-related notices.
• Conduct ad hoc analyses to support management in addressing tax-related inquiries.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation.
• Minimum of 2 years of public accounting and/or corporate tax experience.
• Prior experience in organizations with multiple operating units is preferred.
• CPA certification strongly preferred.

Technical & Professional Skills:
• Knowledge of Avalara or similar tax software is highly desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to analyze complex tax regulations and apply them to practical scenarios.
