Job Description:

The Auditor will play a critical role in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of financial and operational processes. This position involves analytical tasks, risk assessment, and advisory responsibilities to ensure organizational compliance, efficiency, and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct analytical procedures to assess current and prior years’ revenues, expenditures, and budgets, and develop audit programs and plans.
• Coordinate due dates and budgets for assigned tasks to ensure timely completion or make necessary revisions to audit plans.
• Assess business and operational risks for major processes, evaluate the effectiveness of management policies or procedures, and analyze proposals for cost optimization.
• Meet with clients prior to audits to discuss expectations, concerns, and performance measures, and conduct post-audit meetings to review findings and recommendations.
• Perform audit tests on cost representations, accounting systems and records, internal controls, policies, performance measures, and other pertinent management information.
• Develop advisory reports detailing audit findings and recommendations, and prepare ongoing audit programs to help clients achieve audit objectives.
• Resolve conflicts in the field while collecting necessary information to complete audits effectively.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business degree with a major in Accounting.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Governmental auditing experience.
• Professional certifications such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) are highly preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Data Analysis: Ability to perform mid-level data analysis to audit, deduce, assess, and conclude based on established criteria.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to persuade, influence, and train others, with strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with office equipment, personal computers, and software tools like calculators, spreadsheets, and flowchart diagrams.
• Verbal and Written Communication: Ability to utilize various reference and advisory data, operational reports, contracts, and non-routine correspondence.
• Mathematical Aptitude: Proficiency in arithmetic operations, percentages, and descriptive statistics.
• Reasoning and Judgment: Ability to apply principles of supervision, planning, and problem resolution with independent judgment.
• Adaptability: Capacity to evaluate information against sensory and subjective criteria and devise creative solutions.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
• Office-based work environment with generally safe and comfortable conditions.
• Tasks may involve light physical effort, including lifting objects weighing 5-10 pounds and extended periods at a workstation.
• Requires the ability to distinguish colors, shapes, and sounds pertinent to the job.
