Job Description:
The Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations within a healthcare environment. This role manages core financial processes including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and recurring entries.
• Perform general ledger account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Support preparation of financial statements, internal reports, and variance analyses.
• Monitor and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable activity as needed.
• Assist with revenue recognition, cost allocations, and grant or program accounting (if applicable).
• Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
• Collaborate with operational leaders and clinical departments to provide financial insights.
• Support external audit requests and preparation of documentation.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other analytical projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Experience with general ledger systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Preferred:
• Experience working in the healthcare industry or with healthcare-specific financial processes.
• Familiarity with healthcare billing, reimbursements, or cost accounting.
• Experience with ERP or healthcare financial systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory or compliance frameworks relevant to healthcare accounting.
