Tax Compliance Analyst
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist with preparation of book-to-tax reconciliations for the Company and construction joint ventures.
- Support calculation of payroll, revenue, and property apportionment factors for state and city tax returns.
- Assist with continued development of tool used to identify nondeductible expenses for tax filings.
- Maintain tax depreciation schedules and reconcile differences between GAAP and Tax asset cost and depreciation.
- Manage and maintain taxable benefit reporting for the Company’s fleet vehicle program, including maintenance of driver database, personal use data collection, and taxable benefit calculations.
- Assist internal partners with various renewable energy tax incentive questions and research.
- Help document completed research regarding taxability and licensure requirements as the Company pursues new business lines and projects in new jurisdictions, especially related to renewable energy.
- Gather supporting documentation for charitable donations and allocate between deductible and nondeductible contributions.
- Crosstrain on the Company’s sales and use tax reporting in order to provide back-up support for filings and transaction review.
- Actively pursue better efficiencies and compliance and bring ideas to the Compliance team and Tax Compliance Manager.
- Assist with potential audit requests and work on ad hoc special projects/reports, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2-4 years of accounting experience in taxation.
- Public or private accounting experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Federal and State income taxes and tax incentives.
- Ability to analyze data and tax-related information and summarize/present information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret documents.
- Comfortable working independently with little supervision, fielding requests from other regions and peers, and implementing solutions.
- Advanced Excel skills, including lookup/reference functions, statistical and logical functions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to pivot quickly and frequently between time sensitive duties and longer-term initiatives.
- Experience using a tax research database.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must be able to collaborate effectively with on and off-site colleagues.
