Senior Finance Analyst St. Louis, MO

The role will provide direct support to the Division Controller and will have regular contact with Business Leadership and key functional leaders including Division Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Commercial organizations. A demonstrated understanding of the basic chemicals industry is important to this role.
The incumbent must also have a proven ability to provide objective and well-grounded analysis. The ideal candidate will excel at critical thinking, communications, and teamwork across geographically and functionally diverse groups.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual earnings estimates and analysis in support of key commercial, manufacturing, supply chain and other activities.
Perform in-depth product cost modeling including standard cost forecasting for the annual budget and for strategic planning.
Perform in-depth analysis and reporting of plant fixed costs and profitability.
Support the annual budgeting and strategic planning processes by performing key planning activities and performing complex financial modeling.
Analyze product sales, pricing, costs and margins to support commercial managers understanding and decision making
Work closely with Business Finance, Cost Accounting, Revenue Analysts, and General Accountants to coordinate business finance closing and other activities across the business with specific focus on assigned major key plants, products and assets.
Proactively review pre-closing results in transaction systems to identify any accounting or earnings issues or concerns; adhere to monthly and quarterly closing schedules.
Combine actual and estimate financial information across the business to provide relevant analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Provide timely and insightful analysis of actual results vs. budget, estimate, and historical results.
Prepare and present financial reviews including prior month and quarter actual results, highlight and explain trends and deviations, compare to prior periods, estimates, and budgets as appropriate.
Support the Product and Business leaders and others with ad hoc analysis including presentation material.
Actively participate in multiple project teams.
Bachelor’s Degree* in Accounting or Finance is required, Master’s Degree or other advanced degree preferred.
CPA, CMA or other certification preferred.
5+ years of related experience including manufacturing cost accounting and analysis, plant budgeting, and variance forecasting and analysis required.
Experience in planning, budgeting, income statement and expense analysis required.
Strong Excel skills and proven experience in financial modeling and decision analyses required.
Experience in cost accounting and financial reporting required.
Experience with SAP/ECC and Business Objects preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Basic Chemicals industry strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge and understanding of analytical processes, tools and techniques required.
Demonstrated business acumen and competence in financial and technical analysis for business decision support required.
Excellent communications and teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate, support, and lead in the appropriate proportions at the appropriate time required.
