Financial Analyst – M&A (open to hiring CPA)

This is a very unique opportunity for somebody with a CPA and 2-4  years of experience to transition into investment banking in the Twin Cities. This firm is growing very rapidly and has had great success hiring people with public accounting experience as Analysts at their firm on the deal side. They would also offer a very competitive compensation package that would likely be a 30-40+% increase in total compensation in addition to significant career path and compensation growth potential in the future.

Job Description:

Our client’s small deal teams and entrepreneurial culture afford Analysts the opportunity to play a critical role in the entire transaction process from the initial proposal to closing the deal. In this role, Analysts are held accountable for the following:

Assisting the Managing Director, Director, Vice President and Associate in client engagements by:

  • Performing industry, market and competitor research and due diligence
  • Identifying and researching potential buyers or investors for each engagement
  • Preparing valuation models
  • Completing detailed due diligence on new clients, including meeting with client management to gain a thorough understanding of the business
  • Supporting the preparation of high-quality engagement materials describing the client’s business, future growth prospects, and possible synergies with potential buyers
  • Preparing detailed financial analyses to effectively model the client’s business and future growth opportunities

Staying abreast of new development within assigned areas by:

  • Monitoring activities of potential buyers
  • Tracking recent M&A activity in the industry and staying current on relevant regulatory developments
  • Following the financial performance of public companies within the sector
  • Assisting in the preparation of client proposals and presentations and contributing to the firm’s ongoing business development efforts

Qualifications – Ideal candidates for the Analyst position will possess the following skills, qualities and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Deep understanding of accounting, financial statement analysis and business valuation
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in an organized and efficient manner
  • Responsiveness and an ability to take responsibility / ownership of all work levels of work product
  • Ambitious and motivated to become an industry expert
  • High-level of attention to detail and commitment to preparing deliverables in a timely fashion
  • Desire to work in a collaborative, team environment
  • Two years working experience post college
