You’ll have responsibility for developing and deploying HR policies, programs, processes, and best practices throughout the manufacturing facility. High touch role, responsible for managing day-to-day employee and labor relations in accordance with legal, divisional, and corporate guidelines. You’ll be a strategic business partner to leadership and directly manage the HR Generalist.

 

Job Description:

  • Lead the HR function & strategy for roughly 250 employees across three 3 shifts acting as a trusted advisor to managers and employees
  • Collaborate with business leaders to solve complex organizational challenges with a focus on developing and executing strategies to help attract, engage and retain talent
  • Champion company culture and management practices within the organization
  • Deal with complex or sensitive day to day people management issues and provide general assistance and support to employees. Respond to employee requests for information and questions.
  • Support, develop, and coach managers and supervisors to manage employee relations issues using company policies, procedures, and best practices, ideally resolving issues where possible.
  • Build strong working relationships and credibility with assigned facilities and business areas through open communication, visibility, and trust-building behaviors
  • Support the delivery of HR Processes to the business and build a strong business relationship with internal partners, actively identifying gaps. Propose and implement changes necessary to cover risks.
  • Monitor employee engagement, identify issues or barriers that negatively impact employee engagement and develop action plans to address and improve barriers.
  • Educate, coach, and partner with managers to aid their development and support employee growth on topics to include policies, coaching and counseling techniques, progressive corrective action, team member development and performance management.
  • Support organizational change initiatives, modeling effective change leadership practices.
  • Manage local compensation for local workforce to include benchmarking and making recommendations for compensation adjustments.
  • Support plant operations through headcount planning and recruitment of all levels of staff, as required.
  • Manage labor relations with the local union which includes facilitating proper adherence to the collective bargaining agreement, partnering with union leadership, and participating in contract negotiations.
  • Ensure the organization is compliant with all applicable Federal/State/Local Laws.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of human resources generalist and/or labor relations work experience
  • Organized and efficient acting with a sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong and effective relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Self-directed and able to investigate and implement solutions with limited guidance or direction and the ability to influence others
  • Strong critical thinking with the ability to navigate ambiguous and complex situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, lean work environment
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future

Preferred Experience/Background/Skills:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior labor relations experience, including overseeing the adherence to a collective bargaining agreement & participating in contract negotiations
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred
