Director, Gross Profit Accounting St. Louis, MO

This individual will lead a team of accounting personnel focused on recording revenue, accounts receivable, cost of goods sold and inventory for over 500 locations. This individual will utilize their knowledge in technical accounting to enhance existing processes and systems to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting over gross profit and associated balance sheet accounts.
Manage the accounting and financial reporting for health care provider net revenue, cost of goods sold, accounts receivable and inventory in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Lead the financial reporting for healthcare gross profit accounting for the whole organization which includes optometry retail and service revenue, ophthalmology service revenue and the associated costs of services and products.
Review to ensure appropriate application of technical accounting rules associated with healthcare revenue recognition, cost recognition, gross to net estimates for contractual allowances and bad debt allowances, cost accounting for inventory and accurately report gross profit per product category.
Actively participate in the implementation of a new revenue cycle analytic tool for adding efficiency in our estimation process within net revenue for the ophthalmology business
Produce analytical analysis to explain changes in estimates within gross profit monthly to VP Controller, VP Finance, CFO, Operational VPs and Directors over both lines of business (Optometry and Ophthalmology)
Review monthly close entries for gross profit accounts for completeness and accuracy
Ensure month end close process is completed for such entries within the due dates sets forth by the closing calendar
Implement accounting policies and procedures across the gross profit accounting processes
Responsible for ensuring gross profit integration activities are completed timely on all newly acquired entities; including but not limited to, understanding the legacy practice accounting policies over gross profit accounting, ensuring data is captured for gross profit accounts correctly and timely through transition.

The successful candidate will also exhibit the following attributes or skills:
Expertise in cost accounting and both periodic and perpetual inventory systems Experience in retail and manufacturing industries
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred CPA
preferred 10+ years’ experience in an accounting manager or above position
5+ years’ experience in public accounting or similar accounting experience with a healthcare provider.
Use of SAP S4/HANA a plus Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills, customer service and organizational skills.
Excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to complete a task or project, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
