Sr Construction Accountant

The Construction Accountant-Project Development and Construction will be responsible for general accounting of all Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects in pre-development through construction. Other responsibilities to include miscellaneous tasks related to accounting including journal entries, account reconciliations, assist with preparation of financial statements, and will report to the Accounting Manager. This position requires excellent organization and communication skills. Acute attention to detail and deadline management are essential functions of the position.

Job Duties

  • Perform general accounting functions

  • Record pre-development draws and other related entries for development projects

  • Perform development closing draws and create project budget Source and Use collaborating with internal and external parties

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Developer/Owner monthly draw requisitions

  • Gather and process contractor payment applications for monthly progress billings

  • Record construction progress data into MRI Software system

  • Coordinate financial statement and tax preparation for projects

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for development and construction projects

  • Prepare monthly reports and assist with preparation of global financial reports

  • Assist the with special projects and audits

  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner


Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance plus two plus years' related experience
Knowledge of AIA G702 and 703 forms, lien waivers, change orders, and construction budgets
MBA, CPA, or other professional designation preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (preferably Office 365), SharePoint and Great Plains or similar accounting software preferred
Efficient time management and ability to prioritize
Proficiency in a variety of accounting functions
Manage responsibilities in order to meet deadlines while keeping Supervisor aware of progress
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
High ethical standards including maintaining the highest level of confidentiality

  • Experience:

  • 2 years minimum

  • Heavy General Ledger/Journal Entry

  • Preferable Great Plains/must have construction industry experience - " AIA"

  • Multi-entity experience

  • Industry - open


  Minimum: Bachelor's

Preferable: Master's
