Sr Accountant - Reg & Operational Reporting

The Regulatory & Operational Reporting department is a key area within the Finance division responsible for ensuring that the transactions of the firm and its clients are accurately reflected in the financial statements, reporting to regulators, and reporting internally to other departments of Finance.
This position is critical to the analysis and reporting of this information, leveraging key relationships in other divisions to understand the ongoing and changing operations of the firm. Some of the key aspects of the role include:
: Support and influence decision making by proactively developing, analyzing, and interpreting relevant operational data.
: Develop and maintain key business relationships while participating in and/or leading cross functional teams responsible for implementing trading and operations objectives.
: Recording and reviewing operational results, including certain fee and commission revenue, errors and adjustments, trade corrections, and client and firm balances.
: Perform the customer reserve calculation. Assist in preparation of the FINRA and other regulatory filings. Collaborate with and lead the team regarding key regulatory project initiatives.
: Aid Operations on key system enhancements or implementations to ensure proper controls are in place for accurate recording and reporting into the General ledger system.
: Identifies ways to retrieve and analyze data using a variety of resources.
: Ability to solve problems while working with tight time frames, heavy workloads, or conflicting demands.
: The position requires a consistent need to work closely with the team, with other departments within Finance, and with various levels of associates in other divisions of the Firm.

: Role ensures accuracy and completeness of reporting that is critical to firm operations and compliance with rule and regulations. Understanding the risks to these processes and their related controls, as well as critically evaluating those controls for effectiveness and potential modification, is essential to success in this position.
: Identifies and researches accounting and operational business process and/or control issues, researches causes of issues, identifies solutions to correct, and participates in implementing solutions.
A Bachelor' s degree is required with emphasis in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
: Professional license, or working towards designation, is a plus.
: 4+ years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance or related field is preferred.
: Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
: Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials is a plus.
: Working knowledge of Broadridge Brokerage system is a plus.
