Payroll Production Analyst

Job description
Position Purpose:

  • Perform duties in the preparation, reconciliation and maintenance of payroll inputs, calculations, and audits to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.

  • Analyzes payroll data and ensures with internal and external audit controls as well as legal requirements

  • Responsible for timely and accurate Bi-weekly processing of payroll, along with managing communication timeline and proper approvals throughout the process.

  • Prepare, audit and balance all payroll-related inputs, audits, and payroll registers to ensure accurate and timely payments.

  • Ensures accuracy of the payroll calculation and compliance with federal and state laws, creates audits and standard reports for payroll review and completes all processing objectives.

  • Validate payroll reconciliation prior to processing and transmitting final pay.

  • Analyze problems and discern discrepancies related to payroll and time-keeping; correct as appropriate. Know when to escalates complex problems to appropriate parties for quick resolution.

  • Execute reports/queries from HR, Payroll, and Timekeeping systems as well as conduct ad-hoc reporting as necessary.

  • Runs off cycle batch files from timekeeping system daily.

  • Maintain effective internal controls that impact the Payroll function.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel; ability to perform pivots, V-lookups, mail merges and other functions.

  • Complete understanding of payroll process, tax laws and federal and state regulations

  • Create complex data analysis and metrics in Excel to provide payroll data to auditors, management, and other support functions.

  • Coordinate and Lead special off cycle payments and payroll runs.

  • Analyzes weekly Timekeeping audits and coordinate corrections.

  • Prepares and reviews weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly post payroll audit reports

  • Responsible for coordinating setup of all new earnings and deduction codes as needed, analyzing the requirements to ensure the mapping is correct for all Taxes, Deductions, GL and Special Accumulators.

  • Communicates all new or changes to earnings and deduction codes between HR, Payroll, and Technical Teams. Maintaining master all earning and deduction setups.

  • Works with Payroll Manager on system and process improvements to streamline payroll operations.

  • Maintains well-documented and well-organized payroll records including the processing and maintaining of withholding orders.

  • Support company or department changes such as acquisition and divestiture activities, re-organizations, workforce planning initiatives through data reporting

  • Assist in coordinating internal Payroll projects and small cross functional projects

  • Stay updated on new payroll legislation and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed action

Associate Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field. Bachelor's Degree Preferred. 3 years of payroll, financial or data analysis experience and hands on payroll experience in large organization. Workday, ADP, and EmpCenter knowledge preferred. Experience with compliance and financial reporting is preferred.

American Payroll Association FPC or CPP preferred
