SENIOR FINANCIAL SPECIALIST (Research and Reporting) (ZA0635)
About The Position
The Senior Financial Specialist is a highly visible contributor that supports key department priorities and special projects. This position participates in a collaborative, team-based environment within both the Accounting Research and Corporate Financial Reporting departments, along with leading and participating in other special assignments. Core responsibilities include preparing and reviewing SEC filings for the Corporation and its two SEC registrant subsidiaries, conducting accounting research for judgmental accounting considerations, developing the appropriate accounting for significant and / or non-routine transactions, and developing accounting policies. This position works under the direction of the Supervisor, Accounting Research and Policy, and has frequent interaction with the Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, and other Corporate and subsidiary leadership as well as other departments throughout the Company.
Key responsibilities include:
: Proactively research and conclude on accounting guidance related to judgmental topics and transactions
: Create new accounting practices and policies
: Interpret impacts of new accounting guidance
: Prepare select financial statements, footnotes, and regulatory filings including XBRL tagging for SEC filings using Workiva (WebFilings) software
: Analyze and interpret complex accounting, financial, and statistical data
: Identify and implement continuous improvement practices within the Accounting Research and broader Controller's function
: Contribute to cross-functional teams within the department and organization
Bachelor' s Degree from an accredited college or university (preferably in Accounting) required. CPA also required. Master' s Degree preferred. Three or more years of accounting or other professional level relevant experience required. Reporting experience (e.G. SEC or FERC) preferred.
