Job Title: Credit Manger
Department: Credit Department
Reports to: Controller
Supervises: Credit, Collections, and Accounts Receivable personnel
FLSA Status: Exempt
The Credit Manager oversees the Credit Department to include, but not limited to, analyzing credit risk to maximize sales and minimize bad debt expense, interacting with the Rawlings' sales team and the customers' financial staff to cultivate relationships, resolving unpaid invoices and terms compliance issues to maximize cash flow and reduce days sales outstanding, ensuring timely cash application and customer deduction resolution, managing the accounts receivable month-end closing process, and handling other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
: Establishes and/or recommends credit limits for trade customers based on financial condition, liquidity analysis, bank relationship, payment history, trade references, credit ratings, sales input, market conditions, and other risk factors. Depth of analysis is dependent upon the volume and level of risk.
: Executes a periodic review for customer portfolios to keep the analysis current.
: Maintains the accounts receivable system credit controls for the order processing credit check and optimal order flow.
: Negotiates and resolves order exceptions promptly to keep the product flowing, minimize risk, and resolve delinquency.
: Communicates with the sales and service organizations with respect to the credit status and any related order flow issues.
: Maintains credit files to support the credit limit and to document communication.
: Recommends credit and collection action based on the circumstances-reclamation, placing accounts for collection, secured transactions, etc.
: Prepares aged accounts receivable analysis, high-risk customer analysis, and other analyses as appropriate.
: Executes collection follow-up as needed to support the collection effort.
: Identifies, investigates, diagnoses and implements modifications and improvements for all technical aspects of cash application and collections processes.
: Communicates with accounting and IT for input related to the cash interface and application process.
: Ensures timely and accurate cash applications to customer accounts.
: Manages and reports monthly unapplied cash over 90 days to determine disposition and resolution of unresolved items.
: Partners with accounting staff to improve the deduction process.
: Works with accounting staff on unclaimed property reviews.
: Travels and visits customer accounts when necessary.
: Travels and attends trade shows, credit industry meetings, and sales meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
: Bachelor's degree required
: Minimum five years credit management and accounts receivable experience
: ERP experience desired (JD Edwards preferred)
: Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical, and interpersonal skills
: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
: Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight timelines
: High level of integrity and ethical standards
