The Accounting Policy Analyst is an important role, who will be assisting the Head of Accounting Policy in the bank's implementation effort on new accounting standards, assist with project management, monitoring accounting standards development, conduct accounting research, prepare educational materials, participate in reviewing complex and confidential transactions, prepare accounting analysis memo, liaise with controllers and perform research on accounting consultation from the businesses.
The Accounting Policy department is responsible for ensuring that the Bank follow US GAAP (for U.S. Regulatory reporting purposes) and IFRS (for Head Office reporting purposes). We are also responsible for implementing new standards where appropriate. The Accounting Policy Analyst will play a subject matter expert role in technical accounting in contributing to the overall success of this department.
: Develop and maintain accounting policies to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards across the Region.
: Research and evaluate the accounting for new and/or proposed transactions. Propose solutions or alternatives as applicable.
: Consult with business units and external auditors on technical accounting matters and the application and development of accounting policies.
: Document and communicate the accounting for the transactions (both technical and operational accounting considerations).
: Prepare and present monthly complex transaction summary.
: Liaise with external auditors on accounting topics.
: Proactively monitor, review, research and interpret GAAP/IFRS and analyze emerging accounting pronouncements for policy/financial statement implications.
: Assist business units in the implementation of new standards.
: Prepare educational materials.
: Review/prepare US GAAP financial statement disclosures
Technical excellence in accounting literature.
Strong project management attitude.
Bachelor degree minimum. Master in accounting or MBA a plus.
Individual must have minimum of: 1) 4 years of public accounting experience or 2) 5 to 6 years of public/private experience. Big 4 accounting background and CPA a must.
