Position: Grants Administrator
Department: Program Development & Grants Reports to: Director of Program Development and Grants
To manage the section of the department and administration of the company' s grant program by providing guidance to management on matters involving federal, state and local grant processes, grant rules, regulations and guidelines; maintaining a cooperative working relationship with funding jurisdiction; supporting the Agency needs by obtaining and managing grant funding; assisting the Agency in the completion of projects within the allotted time and resources, and participating in special projects, as needed. Also manage staff to achieve its mission and interact and establish relationships with current and future funding sources.
: Prepare grant applications, manage and monitor the grants, identify potential problems and resolve the potential problems.
: Use various grant management databases to monitor projects and funding. Prepare and/or manage preparation of budget revisions and/or amendments to various grants.
: Explain the application requirements, policies and procedures for various funding sources as requested.
: Ensure compliance with all grant procedures, rules, and regulations.
: Keep management informed of the current status of various grants and capital projects.
: Seek out new and non-traditional sources of funds.
: Establish new relationships with potentially new funding sources. Respond to inquiries from sources of funding, represent the Agency to external entities, communicate and work with all funding sources.
: Participate in public forums and other meetings.
: Negotiate with funding sources for funding or favorable interpretations.
: Work with Agency staff and project managers to communicate the grant application and funding processes.
: Monitor the progress of projects to ensure completion by deadline of funding agency and for compliance with various federal, state and/or local rules and regulations.
: Close out grants within a timely manner.
: Identify special projects for the Agency, and work on special projects individually or on a team. Produce special reports and/or projects as requested.
: Communicate understanding and support of organization goals through actions and words, effective interaction with individuals and groups, and maintaining ties with external organizations.
: Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, rules, regulations and laws and stay abreast of legal, regulatory and policy developments affecting areas of responsibility.
: Provide training to Project Managers on grant administration process.
: Plan, manage, review and supervise the work of subordinates.
: Provide training opportunities to subordinates.
: Special projects as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge and state grant rules and regulations; Microsoft Office software;. Skills: proficiency with grant administration; proficiency with managing staff; proficiency with recognizing the financial constraints placed upon the Agency and working within constraints. Proficiency with interacting with funding sources, internal and external customers; and managing grant applications. Abilities: to apply interpersonal skills to deal with employee relation issues, supervise and evaluate the work of staff; train new staff; review the work products of staff; transfer responsibilities to staff and allow staff to manage their work efforts; establish work priorities and lead and manage their work efforts; meet deadlines; analyze situations and make recommendations that affect the Agency; react to shifting policies, priorities and deadlines; work with minimal supervision; communicate effectively, orally and written; work under pressure; manage databases; manage the grant process; and work on a team to achieve the stated outcome.: management principles and practices; ability to identify training needs and provide training to staff; governmental grant processes, including grant funding; application requirements of various funding sources; federal
Degree: B.A./B.S. Required. Years: Five (5) minimum preferred.
Field: Political Science, Public Administration, Business Management. Field: Grants Management, Governmental work, Public Administration preferred.
